No matter where you plan to stay on the Big Island of Hawaii, there are a few issues that every person should know.
If you are an U.S. or Canadian citizen, a passport is not required, but is highly recommended when traveling to the Big Island of Hawaii. U.S. or Canadian citizens must present a government issued proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, and a government issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license.
The high peak season (most expensive) for travel to the Big Island of Hawaii is mid-December to mid-April. The mid peak season (moderately priced) for travel is mid-June to August. The off peak season (least expensive) for travel to the Big Island of Hawaii is mid-April to mid-June and September to mid-December.
Hawaii technically has two seasons, dry season and wet season. Both of them are warm because Hawaii lies at the edge of the tropical belt. The dry season is April – October and the rainy season is November – March.
There are warm, sunny days during the rainy season, it just rains more in the rainy season than it does in the dry season. The year-round temperature does not vary much with average temperatures at 84 degrees during the dry season and 77 degrees during the rainy season.
